I think it's too early to give up on Vaughn, you'll have to just write this season off and hope some of these guys can bounce back next year. whatever's causing Vaughn to suck is also infecting the rest of the team, that's why I don't think the problem is necessarily one specific thing or another and instead the entire team trying to overcompensate for how bad they were then first 2+ months, and baseball isn't really a sport where you can just grind harder to fix your problems

I’d rather have a little more length to stretch at first base. Trade Vaughan

  2. Just trade Vaughan. Get a left handed starter.  4th or 5th starter.

    let sheets take over first

     burger DH

    jimenez in RF.

when colas is ready then Jimenez goes to DH. Burger is the rotator. 1B, DH, 3B.

Romey can play second base. Or bring up Rodrigues and let him have the year at second. And Romey can be the 4th outfielder

Eloy's still only 22 and playing his first 46 games in MLB, all while getting hurt. In 24 games since coming back from the IL he has a 264/319/585 line. Since coming back from injury that's a .905 OPS, with a .322 ISO. wRC+ at 137. He averages a HR once every 15.45 ABs this season. Over 600 ABs that would come out to around 39 HRs. Again from a 22 year old rookie. If he stays healthy he's got a pretty decent chance to get to 30 HRs as a rookie, which has only been done 28 times in MLB history (since 1871). Since 2000 a rookie has hit at least 30 HRs 7 times. Those players are Trout, Judge, Pujols, Abreu, Braun, Bellinger, and Chris Young. Pretty good company. If he gets to 500 ABs this season, he would be on pace to hit 32.5 HRs.

As for Collins, even if he K's a ton he is going to get on base. In every MILB stop where he had over 100 PAs, he has never had an OB% below .365. In AA and AAA it's been .422 and .382 over the last 182 games. Castillo with the Sox had a .304 OB% last year and currently has a .289 OB%. Zavala in AAA has had a .267 and .282 OB% that last 2 seasons.

Amazing how some here diminish the accomplishments of a rookie on pace for 30 homeruns

    That's not raking at all.

Huh he said power. I would say the power has been good. And we haven't even hit the all star break yet and you can see the average raising every week.

Hoping one of these prospects come up and go bananas right away. From a power standpoint, Collins could be that guy!

Sucks seeing guys like Soto, Acuna, Torres, Riley, etc. come up and rake right away while our guys need to “develop more at the big league level”.

    Ummm....Eloy Jimenez.....

  6. What are you pumping the brakes on? Nobody is proclaiming him the next Greg Maddux. Just that he probably should start next season in the starting rotation at the big league. Why not? isn't that what next year is going to be about?

Let's all cement this into our heads for the next 8 months as a site-wide mantra....

5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old... 5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old... 5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old... 5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old... 5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old... 5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old... 5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old... 5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old...

edit: I don't think anyone is sold on Carson... and myself, I was conceding him to the bullpen already just a few weeks ago in August. So... the mantra applies to this dude as well. :lolhitting

I'm all for losing when it's guys like Pelfrey and Covey. Seeing Q and Robertson get shelled is not beneficial for the rebuild

I don't think you know what you want. You've been the biggest complainer of any and everything this year.
