  1. the late great Bill Veeck, they don't make baseball men like that anymore. I'm glad he was a part of white Sox history. thanks, douglas
  2. My introduction to this fine forum was not very pleasant . But now that we know each other, I'm looking forward to a very good 2015 season. With the additions made so far, I hope we're not done, there's no reason the Sox can't manage the front page all year. thanks, douglas
  3. MM and RM both had crew cuts, smoked cigs, didn't have tattoos and they both hit a lot of home runs. You don't have to look like a freak or a clown to perform and respect the game. Yeah, gimme the 50s back anytime. Today's managers are puppets, there's a few with a backbone. thanks, douglas
  4. you guys prolly don't spank your kids either. Most of these modern players are big spoiled crybabies and so rich they could care less. If I was manager, no facial hair, no jewelry, butch crew hair cut and if they don't like it they don't play. thanks, douglas
  5. I may be new here, but I ain't no whippersnapper and I ain't no troll. I started watching/listening to White Sox baseball when I was about 9 or 10yrs old and this Feb I will be 69yrs old. I seen every manager from the 50s to date and Ventura is one of the worse we have had. Yes, personality does count, and he has zero, you want the Sox to be front page of the funny papers? You gotta have a spokesman who commands attention. Remember Ditka? The best part of those years was watching him, he kept the team in the funnies. Most of you guys are still wet behind the ears compared to me, so please don't opine me that I don't know what I'm talking about. thanks, douglas
  6. he sucks because of his personality, he's half dead. His post game interviews are boring and every other word is "you know". I hate to compare to the Cubs, but in the manager department the Sox lose. Ozzie was a personality and never boring, I'm 68yrs old been a sox fan my whole life and the Ozzie years were the best because the manager made it interesting and entertaining. The Cubs have had a lot of personalities, Leo, Don, Lou, Lee, and a couple more I can't think of right now. Hahn has made some great player moves this year, it was time to move on with the manager. a couple guys were available, the guy who manages the Indians and the guy who managed the Rays, and even the guy who managed the Twinkies. thanks, douglas
  7. how about a manager? RV sucks, boring, booooring! get someone who has a pulse. thanks, douglas
  8. we need a second baseman, and a third baseman, and a catcher? Why the heck did we let AJ go? thanks, douglas
