December 21, 200223 yr So they didn't offer him arbitration because they could sign him cheaper. He will be back folks. It has something to do with the fact he wasn't supposed to be a free agent. Guy like Lieber, they were free agents, but the Sox had the rights to Ritchie cause he didn't have enough major league experience. I'm assuming now that they didn't offer him arbitration that other teams could bid on him (Something that couldn't happen before)
