Sale was the best pitcher through mid-August, but his late season struggles cost him the trophy. 28 1st place votes for Kluber, 2 for Sale (one from Bruce Levine). Every ballot had them 1st and 2nd.

 

Since Sale has become a starter, he's finished in the top 6 of Cy Young voting for 6 straight seasons now, pretty impressive.

 

I also did not realize that the Padres traded away Corey Kluber in a Ryan Ludwick deal. Ouch.
