December 28, 200223 yr With the sox doesnt have a good option to fill in our rotation, we should get Lieber. We can sign him cheap bcoz of the surgery he had and we can wait for him to be back to his normal self. If he come off his rehab very well and get his stuff back, he is a very good pitcher. He pitched well for the Cubs and I think he can still do that. Just imagine if the surgery and rehab are both successful, we get an ACE out of Lieber and a great 1-2 punch (Buerhle and Lieber) w/c can be ranked as one of the best in the league all of a sudden. I think this is going to be a smart move if we get him. What do you guys think? I know he will be available to pitch way past the All Star Break but this can be a good long term plan. Our young pitchers get more experience and knowledge of the game, Lieber gets better this year and for the future with the sox, then our pitching becomes solid and consistent for the sox to be a contender for the WS every year.

December 29, 200223 yr Originally posted by mac9001Lieber wont be able to pitch until after the All-Star break at the earliest. And even after he comes back you still don't know if he'll ever be the same and odds are it will take him till at least two seasons from now to be back to his old self. You don't just magically come back an ace. I'd sign him as a good investment if it were a cheap multi year deal.
