Backman called Gardenhire during Twins-Sox series

Featured Replies

They were teammates from 1981-1985 on the Mets, lending credence to the story...Even if it was innocent fun (which is a stretch) it shows horrible judgment, and I'd fire his ass. I'd also make it clear why.

This story is wild. Wonder if they will ask Backman about it..

I am sure he would never admit it, but I wouldn't see the motive of anyone to print a story like this, unless there's stuff we don't know about going on behind the scenes.

:fyou Wally.

I didn't want Backman anyway. This just solidifies my opinion.

I would think he said it just joking around. Either way, I don't really care.

Nightengale also seems to talk to KW occasionally.

Quotes him on a regular basis.

My guess would be that he bounced that one off somebody with the Sox before USA Today sports weekly printed it.

Wally's got 'xplainin to do

Wouldn't surprise me if this is true, but ...

This wouldn't be something the Minnesota Twins cooked up just to tweak the White Sox, would it?????????????????

I mean, do everything you can to cause a little turmoil for your fiercest division rival????????????????

Nah ... that would never happen. The Twins are WAY above pulling any nonsense like that ...

Wow, the Sox organization is as much of a soap opera as the offtopic board is.

:o

What a loser. This was probably going to be the only chance he'd ever get to be a big league manager, and instead he got greedy and stupid. What a nimrod.

I realize the Chicago papers are obsessed with Cubbie Mania, but hopefully they will soon have time -- like tomorrow -- to find out if this story about Backman is totally legit.

hope somebody saw it 'cause we ain't been gettin much news about the new manager.

Sox fans want to read about their team, too, not just Wrigleyville.
