November 2, 200322 yr Who is going to be a FA after this upcoming season? If there are some quality players, I think we should not spend all of our money on long term contracts, and not be able to sign anyone next season. I think if we can't get the guys we want, then let's not sign guys we really don't want for long. I could live with guys who arn't all superstars for one season, if they were deadset in signing some studs after the season.
November 2, 200322 yr Steve: You have to wait to see how this free agent year starts to play out and if salaries really are in decline. Alot of the decisions by teams will depend this. No one knows what Colon will get...Obviously, his agent wants more than what the Sox offered. But so far, all indications say that was a very fair offer and he may not see more. But only time will tell. Let a few players sign or get traded. And then you'll get a better feeling about where things are going this year and next. If salaries are declining, you may see potential 2005 players willing to be traded to teams and immediately re-signed to longer term contracts, because they will be worried the market will be softer yet next year. Let's see how it all plays out. Forkit!
November 2, 200322 yr Author I kind of meant it more so we don't tie up alot of our money in junk, and we're stuck with it for a few years. I feel alot of guys who are being mentioned won't give us too much.
