To be honest, I'd love to see both of them lose and fall flat on their faces. Boston has lost my respect as they're simply now doing the same thing the Yankees do. The White Sox are trying to find a way to keep Mags, retain Colon, get another affordable starter & trade Konerko and have to do it with peanuts. And yet the rest of the league is held hostage while the 2 evil empires duke it out on the East Coast. Oh what poetic justice it would be to see neither one of those teams win it next October. Naturally I want the White Sox to win it all next year, but in the sad case that they come up short, I'll be happy to watch another team stomp and dismantle them................as long as that team doesn't come from the Northside or Minnesota.

Actually, the AL East will be harder for either of the 2 Evil Empires to win next year. Both Baltimore and Toronto have solid clubs and the Orioles are definitely adding to payroll this year. As for Tampa Bay, they have a lot less dough than the other teams to work with, but the Devil Rays have a pretty solid outfield and look to be picking up some lower salary but good players like Graffanino and Everett, so its not out of the question that they might finish around .500 and play the role of the spoiler in '04.

Considering Boston has finished 2nd to the Yankees 6 years in a row, what choice do they have but to try and compete at the Yankees level?

I have a hard time calling a team greedy when it's spending money on players. I think Boston will play - geez this is hard to say - the Cubs, and yes, only Dusty Baker can prevent the Cubs from winning the World Series. I hope he does.

I put both make playoffs..but in the end they get what they deserve.
