December 10, 200322 yr The LA Herald ( I think it was the Herald) floated this today - Ortiz or Washburne for Carlos Lee. This offseason is sucking, but wait until April for the real suckfest
December 10, 200322 yr I saw that in the L A Daily News. They suggested Ortiz for Lee would be a good match. I wonder what they've been smoking. Here's the link
December 10, 200322 yr I'm actual a fan of both pitchers, but for Lee? With CF open and both Konerko and Thomas clogging first, I'm not sure it would be smart for them to pull that deal. On the other hand, if the Sox want to compete next season some deal will have to be made. If this is the case though, and the AROD deal falls never turns out, I'd see if I can add Valentin to the deal and grab Eckstein and one of their relievers in return. The pitcher would be Washburn or Ortiz, pending the reliever we get. That is if the Sox were to trade Lee, which I'm not in favor of.
December 10, 200322 yr I wouldn't do it for Carlos Lee, although I wouldn't be shocked if there was some sort of deal with the Angels where the Sox took on one of the Angels bad contracts and the Angels took on one of the Sox bad contracts but a productive hitter which is what they are looking for. Konerko could fit in with them, but for that to happen the Sox would have to take on one of their bad deals. It would need some creativity and right now I can't think of a good match. I know Erstad would fit here, but the Angels wouldn't do Konerko for Erstad straight up but I could see something centering on those two.
December 11, 200322 yr Well, just looking at last year, Lee was our best hitter while Washburne and Ortiz were mediocre. Id avoid this one folks...
December 11, 200322 yr I don't know what else could be put together, but Lee for either of those pitchers would really suck.
