The game tarnished by money

Featured Replies

As we all seem to be hanging on every word about this trade and all its effects on the Red Sox, Rangers, White Sox, and insert team here... what ever happened to "simple trades"?

Isn't it really interesting that these contracts are so inflated that these guys simply can't just be traded anymore? Doesn't that say something about the state of the game?

It's a sad day when these guys make so much money that they can't be moved or to look at it another way, IF they are moved (ARod and Manny) good guys have to be dumped off and ran off out of town. Don't they make way too much money then? But we continue to support them.

As far as I'm concerned, ARod signed the contract, and he should have to be stuck in the hell hole called the Texas Rangers - they are grossly mismanaged IMO - and a lot of it started with his signing. He could have gone anywhere for a little less money. GREED is what led him to Texas, let him stay there now and wallow in the piece of crap team they've got going there.

It also seems that this is what the strike was about in '94 - now salaries are way more inflated then they were then. And yep, the owners paid it, so they're at fault too. The state of sports is a bloated cow, there's waaaay too much money involved.

Hell, go watch kids play. At least they try as hard as they can and the egos get left at the door (except the parents, hehe).

You do have something here. I do think it is great that the all mighty Scott Borass thought he could work his magic and manipulate the system again, and failed miserably, wreaking all kinds of havoc all over MLB.

the game was never ever about money now was it, not in the beginning, not in 1919, never until just now, damn it all
