Sun-Times article about Frank Thomas

It's not the reporters problem to worry about their relationship getting better. If it does, they will report it.

With people like Mariotti being the primary voice of one of the largest newspapers in the country, I'm not so sure of that. Frank could give Ozzie a big hug and be the 1st in line for the shuttle drill, and some reporters would try to put a negative spin on it.

The offseason is the players time. Let them have it. This is an issue that should be brought up when the players report, not days, weeks, months before.

That's not what is meant by "the way" he plays.  Ozzie was more referring to hustle, being team first, running out ground balls, hitting the ball the other way to move a runner, showing up to practice on time, being a good teammate, etc.

Well then I hope he starts to run out ground balls, hustling and moving runners along, and then when he retires he can have his plaque in the HOF sit right next to Ozzie's

And of course, that has NOTHING to do with the discussion.

Ozzie and Franks numbers/relationship had nothing to do with the original convo...as I said earlier.."on an unrelated note"--the comment in green refers to that. In addition I was just pointing out that Ozzie's accomplishments mean nothing long-term ex. HOF. Nor was his skill anywhere close to where Franks is....the guy was cut by the Devil Rays for god sakes when he was Franks age

Secondly, I agree in part to what you are saying however, I do not consider Ozzie a manager, he has yet to manage a game yet on any level, not even little league.

And so far the way Frank has played the game doesn't bother me, anyone else upset about 42hrs and 105 rbi's for a 35 year old??

You don't consider Ozzie a manager? Why should it matter whether he has managed a game yet or not, he knows baseball well. The team, the entire team, will have to treat him with respect and as the manager, otherwise they have no place on this team. He's going to do a fine job, and finally give some energy to this club.

I do not consider him a manger YET cause he hasn't managed a game. You wouldn't call somebody a baseball player who has never picked up a ball and a bat and you wouldn't call somebody a football player if they never put on pads, its the same thing, it's just a title. It will all change here in a month and a half or so, so there is no real point in arguing about what I consider him.

I agree with the second part of your statement about them needing to give him respect and I sure hope the do..but I am weary about the job he will do, I certainly hope he does a great one.
