Does anyone know why it was known as White Sox Park from 1962-1975? I saw this on ballparks.com and found it interesting.

My dad refers to it as this most of the time and it always kind of bothered me, but now I know why he does.

Hell I still call it Sox Park.

but what is the reason for the name change?

It wasn't owned by a Comiskey any more. I grew up with it being White Sox Park and still think of it that way.

just call it comiskey or sox park.

just not the cell. :puke

After Veeck's interests sold the team to Arthur and John Allyn the mane was changed to White Sox Park because Charles Comiskey was one of Veeck's investors and was no longer officially involved with the franchise, as mentioned above.

When Veeck returned in late 1975, the Comiskey name was restored, as Veeck and Comiskey were friends and Veeck had more of an appreciation for history.

That time period is when I lived in Bridgeport and it was commonly referred to in both ways ... or actually three way: the ballpark, Sox Park (Pronounced in Bridgeport at Saaahhx Park) or Comiskey Park.
