April 18, 200421 yr Was reading Rumblings and Grumblings and came across a particularly interesting quote aboutt Robbie Alomar... Of course, Arizona's two big pickups were on the other side of the ball. But Roberto Alomar has been so disappointing that one scout -- a long-time Alomar admirer -- said, "He ought to retire." http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...yson&id=1783200 Pretty funny in my mind.
April 18, 200421 yr It was obvious last year that Robbie was fading fast. Several people b****ed when we didn't resign him. I wasn't one of them.
April 18, 200421 yr Author Yeah, it is kinda sad. I am glad that we have what we do now though. I am sure our platoon will be much more efficient tha Robbie would have been.
April 18, 200421 yr Hall of Famer? Me thinks yes largely because he is a two bagger. Yeah. I can see it now. The Robbie Alomar display will have a cardboard cutout of an umpire 3 feet away and patrons will be invited to hock one up and spit in the face. The nastiest gob gets a prize.
April 18, 200421 yr I believe Robbie will go into the hall. It'll take him a few years to get in, though.
April 18, 200421 yr It was obvious last year that Robbie was fading fast. Several people b****ed when we didn't resign him. I wasn't one of them. Nor I. I still think he is HOFer though. But he was fading fast last season. Probably why Sandy was so ok with his brother not being re-signed.
April 18, 200421 yr Definately a HOFer, but he was brutal last year with the Sox. I don't care what anyone says, he wasn't as good as Jimenez was. Now just having his name may of sparked some players, but I believe it was Jurassic Carl that helped spark this team.
