So once she pauses (and make sure its a pause, not a yawn or cough) ask her. Dont ask "Are you going to the dance on Friday?" That also puts her on the spot. And dont say something like "I dont suppose youd like to go to the dance with me on Friday?" That makes its all sound negative and shed think you expect to be turned down and she'll oblige to your expectations. Be straight to the point. Drifting off topic is a killer sin. Also, be polite. Dont cuss. And if she turns you down say "Maybe some other time" dont blow up and show yourself to be an immature little brat.
