Sox lead AL in HR, tied for 3rd overall in MLB

Their 40 homers lead the American League and was actually tied with the Cubs for 2nd, but Shammy homered tonight, putting them up by 1. St. Louis leads the league with 42.

The Sox are also 20th in the league in strikeouts, meaning free swingers like CLee, Konerko & Olivo are cutting down quite nicely. Now if only Crede can work on that too.

Who cares how many HR's Sox hit and how many times they strike out? :huh

Sox were near the top in HR in 2003....Finished behind both KC and Min in runs scored and missed the playoffs.

The lesson? It's all about RUNS SCORED. Team OPS and team avg. with RISP are nice and all.....but let's keep an eye on the prize here.

Runs scored mean nothing if you allow a boatload of runs.

The only thing to determine how good a team actually is, is by their wins and losses. No stat is more telling.

Are you ever happy at anything the Sox do?

The strikeouts are important because with those RISP, those strikeouts cost us precious opportunities to drive in those runs to be scored. Strikeouts are down, walks are up and more RUNS ARE BEING SCORED as a result. As for the home runs, with teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, & Angels all upgrading their teams with major power sluggers, to see the Sox distancing them is a nice thing. Will it last? Who knows, but right now, they're atop the pack.

Accentuate the positive, and quit being so damn negative!

Accentuate the meaningful, and quit being so damn homerific right back atcha. :headbang

So....Save the HR and the SO crap for your fantasy league buddies, and tell me if Sox are ranked first in the RUNS SCORED or not.

Thanks in advance.
