May 10, 200421 yr Wunsch Optioned to AAA Charlotte By Jason Gage May 9, 2004 FutureSox.com The White Sox activated left handed specialist Kelly Wunsch from the 15 day disabled list on Monday and then optioned Wunsch to Charlotte. Wunsch, who was originally drafted in the 1st round by the Milwaukee Brewers, still had all his options remaining. The White Sox will likely leave Wunsch in Charlotte while trying to trade him or letting him continue to work on adding a few mph back onto his fastball in an effort to make it back up with the White Sox. As of now the White Sox are comfortable with their bullpen situation and no changes appear imminent, although Jon Adkins has been used infrequently as of late. For the time being Wunsch will continue to be an asset for a good Knights bullpen. Wunsch is 0-0 with a 4.26 ERA for the Knights this season. He has pitched in 9 games and has given up 6 hits while striking out 8 in 6.1 innings of work. Wunsch has pitched in 209 major league games and is 10-5 with 42 holds, 1 save and a 3.69 ERA. Last season Wunsch went 0- with a 2.75 ERA while limiting opposing batters to a .139 AVG.
