A Child Arrived Just the Other Day

Whew! Police technician comes to mom's rescue just in time

Tracy Jackson had it all planned. She had figured exactly how she would get to St. Anthony Hospital when her second child was due next month -- with a "Plan B" and "Plan C" lined up, just in case.

Chicago Police evidence technician Phillip Campbell also had plans early Tuesday morning. He was headed to the scene of a shooting and, unlike Jackson, newborn babies were far from his thoughts.

But a baby, soon to be named Kemani, had plans, too. About 2:30 a.m., his plans won out.

It's a good thing the police officer was there. The baby had the cord wrapped around his neck.

Health and good life to the baby and all involved.
