Two things to remember: *Sox could have used him and got down on him too quickly. *They should NOT repeat the same mistake with Rauch, Stewart or any of the other young arms.

Two things to remember: *Sox could have used him and got down on him too quickly. *They should NOT repeat the same mistake with Rauch, Stewart or any of the other young arms. **cough cough** Scott Ruffcorn **cough cough** Aaron Myette **cough cough** Kevin Beirne **cough cough** Josh Fogg Point being, minor league arms are ALWAYS a crapshoot, and I haven't seen anybody with the crystal ball that allows them to get it right every time. You get a chance to get proven MLB players by giving up minor league all-stars, you make that move every time. This Ginter character has had 4 outings, not conclusive evidence of anything. Using it as basis for criticizing Sox management is verrrrrry knee-jerk-y. The Sox bullpen has been overall very good, where could the Sox have used him? Fifth starter? Not so fast, see Neal Cotts. Timo Perez(he is the guy we got for Ginter, yes?) has had a few big hits thus far. Got a decent lefty bench guy with playoff experience for a minor league, right-handed middle reliever. Sounds like a decent move, IMHO.
June 1, 200421 yr I think its more the meer fact that he was traded for a player that really was unneeded, and could have been solved by simply calling upon Joe Borchard, when the 5th starter has been the one spot all along that was going to give this team trouble.
June 1, 200421 yr Borchard could not fill Perez's role because he would have to sit to much. Perez was a utility outfielder, to provide us a little speed and a left handed bat, who we could afford to sit as much as necessary. Ginter has done okay in the NL so far. He might blow up tomorrow, and we had replacements for Ginter, just none of them have turned out. But the reality is, in the Sox's eyes, Ginter was not going to turn out either. SB
