Tycoon's Hindu wedding to cost $55 million

Paris, France, Jun. 2 (UPI) -- One of France's most prestigious historical sites will close early this month to accommodate the $55 million wedding of an Indian tycoon's daughter.

Footing the bill for the 17th-century Vaux de Vicompte rental on June 22 is steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, who now lives in England, where he was recently ranked the fifth wealthiest man in the country.

His 22-year-old daughter Vanisha will marry a banker at a Hindu ceremony followed by a vegetarian reception complete with lavish gifts for all some 1,200 guests.

A formal engagement ceremony will be June 20 at the Palace of Versailles, once the home of Louis XIV, followed by a banquet, The Telegraph reported Wednesday.

For India's mega-rich, 10,000 guests are the norm for a family wedding, but Mittal said he is determined Vanisha's marriage will be tasteful, exclusive and different.

Mittal started his career in his family's steel making business in India and now owns the LMN Group, the world's second biggest steel producers.
