Calling Out Ozzie

Featured Replies

My big beef with Oz was sticking with Botch for as long as he did.  He learned from his mistake though & now Botch is down in the basement washing jock straps where he belongs.

If a pitcher goes out there and has 1 bad outing you can chalk it up to having a bad day.

He has 2 bad outings in a row he has a problem

3 Bad outings in a row and something needs to be done with the guy.

After 3 bad outings in a row its all on the manager.

What comes with 4 bad outings? ;)

Hopefully it wouldn't get that far. LOL!

I have no problem with Ozzie not bringing in Marte or Shingo. But he should have put someone else in to start the 9th. Jackson had already thrown 2 innings. He's not a 3 inning pitcher. My guess is he wanted to save his relievers so he'd have flexibility for the next games.

A better choice would have been Adkins or Cotts.

I didn't think I was going to have to do this so early in the season, but I have seen enough.

Never have I been so pissed off after a Sox victory, but this just about does it for me.

Why, Ozwaldo, are you using Meatball throwing Mike Jackson in the 9th inning of ANY GAME?  His 8th inning performance was enough for most of us.

Are you trying to give the other team momentum heading into the next game?  Sure seems like it to me.

I could care less what the score of the game is, quit using these guys in the 9th inning. I don't get the idea of only using certain pitchers in certain situations.  Is it unreasonable to ask Marte or Shingo to pitch in the 9th inning if the game isn't close?  What are you saving these guys for?  A rainy day?

I suggest you remove your head from wherever it's stuck now and wake up.  Learn how to use the bullpen, it may do you some good as the season goes on.

(End of rant.)

You've had enough? Of what? First place? :dips***

How can you criticize using a middle reliever with a 6 run lead in the ninth? Ozzie was exactly right with the way he used the bullpen last night. If you can't trust a guy to hold a 6 run lead for 1 inning, he should be released.

I think the Ozzie bashing has reached an all time stupid-level with this criticism.

And thanks for calling me dips***, most posters around here would agree with that one...

I just thought that a "rant" against Ozzie and the fact that you've "seen enough" was way out of proportion for the situation. This was a very minor issue in terms of evaluating Ozzie's managerial capabilities - and it just seemed like you were way over the top.

The teams in first in mid June despite the fact that it has lost it's best player and it's closer.

Hard to give up just yet. Jeez!

Ozzie can't use Shingo and Damaso every game

Yasny, it's amazing how something this obvious is ignored by so many. Shingo and Marte should be kept as fresh as humanly possible. Politte has to close out 3-4 run games, ideally.

If you can't trust Jackson with a 13-6 lead in the 7th-8th......Might as well cut him and call up Bajenaru.

Oh, and i haven't? What are you trying to prove

I am trying to "prove" that Matt Clement was totally bailed-out by the rain against the Cardinals last year. Most starters didn't have the benefit/luck of having one of their worst outings effectively "wiped out" - Matt's real ERA for 2003 was in 4.30's.

Got it, Koch_This fairy? :nono

This is clearly a non-issue in my mind.

Ozzie handled the BP correctly. When you have a 6 run lead, you have to use your fringe BP guys, not the studs. The studs are there to win you the normal baseball games (also read as non-blow outs)

If your non-stud gets rocked and it gets close you call the stud

Also, Adkins and/or Cotts might be saved for the 5th starter day (they will be needed either to start or for relief then one way or the other)

Hence, the decision to use Jackson last night as much as possible and save everyone for today and tomorrow.

This is a useless thread :stupid

I have no idea what you are talking about with Clement, "fairy"

I am sorry - apparently I had you confused with that momoistic Illini drone Koch_This. Different poster, my bad.

You're a huge arrogant douchebag, Brando

And where does Clement fit into this?
