June 28, 200421 yr I am going to repeat myself from another post of mine because this has been overlooked in all the discussion of the trade: I think everyone has forgotten the Schoeneweis factor - we were down to three on our staff, we have no number 5 and now we have no number 4 with Scott's injury - we will win more games with Garcia pitching and Sandy and company catching than we will with Miguel catching our rotating platoon of mostly ineffectual 4s and 5s

June 28, 200421 yr You are correct. Also, what does our rotation look like when Schoeneweis comes back off the DL?

The Sox, in reality had a 3 man rotation (reliable rotation) before this trade. KW had to do something and since it wasn't exactly a secret that they were down to a 3 man rotation, the Sox were probably going to have to pay a little more than before Schoe went on the DL. Now the Sox can see which of the minor leaguers will work out best for the 5th as Diaz and Rauch both looked pretty good against some good offensive teams.
June 28, 200421 yr Adding Garcia to the mix is going to enable some shifting around of the bullpen. Having a more reliable bullpen is going to make Oz look like a smarter manager.
