June 29, 200421 yr Does anyone else think that this Maggs-Jones/Ortiz talk could all be KW trying to force Magglio into signing an extension? I thought that it was one of two things. The one you mentioned and mentioning the Sox going after Ortiz to make the Mariners pull the trigger on the Garcia deal a little faster.

The one you mentioned and mentioning the Sox going after Ortiz to make the Mariners pull the trigger on the Garcia deal a little faster. Yeah, that makes sense too. But I keep hearing all of the talking heads saying, if we are going to pay Andruw Jones this much money, why don't we just pay it to Maggs. It got me thinking that if Maggs knew he would possibly have to uproot his family twice in a 6 month period, would he be more likely to take a deal from the Sox to trade off some stability for he and his family.
