July 17, 200421 yr I was just flipping channels in between commercials in the Sox game, and I saw Marion Jones giving a press conference. It seems as though she was "too tired" to run in the finals of the 200 --- Stupid Yahoo link (will be dead in an hour rolleyeyes.gif ) World Class atlete too f***ing tired to run 200 meters... f***ing Prima Dona... IT's half way around the track you dumb f***... I know 400Lb'ers who could make it around the track. To bad you're "too tired"
July 17, 200421 yr Only one thing that can maybe get her alittle excuse. Didn't she recently just have a kid?? I'm not saying I'm just saying.
July 17, 200421 yr Author You don't have to carry the kids with you, or stop to breast feed them halfway through...
July 17, 200421 yr This is true but since she had the kid she probably didn't train as hard as she should have been. Plus not to mention she wasn't able to take he performance inhancing drugs as well.
July 17, 200421 yr Author Plus not to mention she wasn't able to take he performance inhancing drugs as well. what are these drugs you speak of?
July 17, 200421 yr This is a pretty neat thing we have going now. We can accuse anyone of anything and everyone will believe it regardless. Of course Marion had to take drugs to win right? I'm sure Jackie-Joyner Kersee and Flo-Jo were on drugs also right? Yes I know all about CJ Hunter etc, and of course Tim Montgomery had to also be on drugs. Don't forget about Lance Armstrong also. Michael Vick has to be next on the list of accusing right? I just love it, Marion recently passed a lie detector test saying she never has taken any performance enhancing drugs. But I'm sure she cheated there also.
July 18, 200421 yr Her name has been mentioned with BALCO because she was married to CJ Hunter, who was banned for illegal substance use. Basically what I'm saying is that we should see how it plays out before we automatically assume people have taken steroids. Right now I see more evidence that Marion didn't take drugs, than she did. Whats has gone on so far is that Conte said he gave Marion and Tim Montgomery drugs in exchange for endorsing his products. Both Marion and Tim denied ever getting anything from him, and there isn't an endorsement deal there for either one. Marion has also passed a lie detector test given by polygraph professionals. Here's a site with all the info on steroids etc and the stories as the broke. http://www.ktvu.com/balco/index.html
July 18, 200421 yr Author I wonder if World Record holder Tim Montgomery was tired, and that's why he finished 7th in the 100.
July 18, 200421 yr Her name has been mentioned with BALCO because she was married to CJ Hunter, who was banned for illegal substance use. Her husband was using, but she wasn't? Just like Barry's trainer or whatever was a big time supplier of roids, but Bonds wasn't using? These people are all greedy capitalist slobs who need to be dealt with. That's all.
July 19, 200421 yr Oh come on, thats like saying if your spouse cheats on you, then you must be a cheater also. Does Marion look bad for being around CJ? Definitely. But I'm waiting for more evidence before we start the witch hunts all over again.
July 23, 200421 yr I'm man enough to bring this back up and say maybe I'm wrong. Here's some new accusations. We will see how it plays out. I will say this, if she did use performance enhancing drugs then she's the biggest loser in the world to me now. http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/summer04/tra...tory?id=1844888

I will say this, if she did use performance enhancing drugs then she's the biggest loser in the world to me now. http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/summer04/tra...tory?id=1844888 for you to admit this. (Not being a smartass, being honest here.)
December 7, 200421 yr lol I was like dang this thread looks familiar. Any reason for bringing this back up? Its still Conte's word vs. Jones word and Marion has a lie detector test backing up her word. I'm suspicious of her, but nothing factual yet to make me completely turn on her.
December 7, 200421 yr Author I don't need Jones' lie detector test... I saw her too afraid to put up another poor performance in the 200 after already being given a special exemption into the finals. That's more telling than any pulse rate.
December 7, 200421 yr This might have something to do with it. Her time in the 200 Friday was 10th best, well behind Torri Edwards' leading 22.60. It was just the second 200 Jones has run all year, her first since having a baby in 2003. She made her outdoor debut in the event in the Mount SAC Relays in April, finishing fourth in 23.02. That was her first race since having a baby, not to mention all the distraction of BALCO at the time. I know you are insinuating she had to stop the steroids and was afraid to run because of it, but then wouldn' that effect her long jump also? A night after jumping 23 feet, 4 inches -- the second-best long jump in the world this year and her best since 1998 -- Jones flashed her trademark smile when she was announced at the start of the 200.
December 7, 200421 yr I have to say, I didn't expect something like that from you. Normally you put up a great argument.
December 7, 200421 yr Author I have to say, I didn't expect something like that from you. Normally you put up a great argument. It looks bad -- I didn't express myself fully -- I had written a response, and It just suddeny occurred to me that you may have a blind spot, whith her being from NC and all. So I delted my response and, well, you saw what I wrote. I was attempting to leave the conversation without it erupting into something that may have hit too close to home. I didn't do it very gracefully at all...
December 7, 200421 yr Thats fine, it just hit me wrong also. I honestly hope I don't come off as having a blind UNC allegiance. There are plenty of UNC people I can't stand from Peter Gammons, to Jeff McInnis. Marion would join that list in a heartbeat if she admits to it or is proven wrong. I do give her the benefit of the doubt partially because of my UNC love, but Marion has been dominating track since her HS days in California, similar to Allyson Felix.
December 8, 200421 yr I honestly hope I don't come off as having a blind UNC allegiance. There are plenty of UNC people I can't stand from Peter Gammons, to Jeff McInnis. What about Stuart Scott? I hate that mofo....
December 8, 200421 yr Stuart gets on my nerves sometimes, but overall I like him, he brings excitement to the broadcast. I can only take listening to Jon Anderson, Steve Barthelamu(sp?), etc for so long. But he's not my favorite ESPN anchor, my favorite is either Berman or Scott Van Pelt.
December 8, 200421 yr Did anyone else see about a week and a half ago when Scott did like poetry in the middle of Sportscenter? So retarculous I had to turn it off. :headshake
