Texsox
IIRC, The best record plays the wildcard, regardless of division. The other two square off. So if the season ended now, it would be Twins - Rangers and Sox - Yankees. Is it football that doesn't match up division rivals in the first round? YASNY
As it currently stands, intradivisional rivals do not meet in the first round.
SoxFan1
We are first in Wild Card standings?

kapkomet
I would LOVE it if the Sox - Rangers made it all the way to a playoff matchup. That's going to be tough - but I would be all over that...
Yoda
Whatever team the White Sox play in the playoffs, that team is not going to be easy to beat.
1549
The only team is really think its over with if they get in, is Oakland. Any other team and I really think we got a legit shot. If you are saying that we would automatically lose to the A's, I beg to differ. Yes we are the White Sox. We haven't won a home postseason game since 1959. We haven't won a postseason series since 1917. We were swept in our last postseason appearance. Our best pitchers have a history of pitching poorly in the postseason. Despite all of this, we would be playing the Oakland Athletics, who have taken first round exits in each of the past four seasons. And in a 5 game series...anything can happen. Say what you want about their staff dominating a three game series, but history dictates that the A's pitching advantage hasn't helped them.
