does any one realize that in september starting the 14th i think we have 2 series left with minnesota.

 

if we can keep it close (within 2 games) we can easily take the division if we dont choke like last year and last series. Hopefully we can have a battle with minnesota for the finish just like last year except this year we will win it

I agree, although I think even if the Sox keep it within 3 or 4 games they give themselves a legitimate shot

Not to mention Minny has Oak, Sea, Cle, NYY, Cle, Tex...coming soon. Sox have a healthy diet of KC, Cle, Det and others. If the Sox can get it together and win these series they will be just fine.

after playing detroit... I'm not as uber confident about just raking in wins against them. However, Minnesota has struggled against them, to be sure.

Well I didn't say they would be raking in the wins. I said if the Sox can get it together and win series against these teams. They will have a good chance.

One more note, even though we are 5 games out, we are only 4 losses behind the Twins, so we control our fate a little more than the standings show.

I really appreciate your optimism here, amidst what has just unfolded...But if anything is going to happen, our offense MUST step it up, as well as our relief pitching. Both have been doing poorly this past week (it looked like Marte was going to give yesterday's game away).

We've also played two fewer games than Minny (I think it's two), so, if we can win those two while the Twinkies are off, that's one game right there. And like DJ said a couple of weeks ago, this team just needs to focus on winning series. Not trying to go on a 10 game winning streak (although that would be nice, too).
