March 22, 200323 yr this is jacque chrIRAQ 's response to a question about if he would support a resolution for the US/UK to lead the rebuilding of iraq..from the AP French President Jacques Chirac (zhahk shih-RAHK') says he will "not accept" a U-N resolution along those lines. He says that would "legitimize" the war, which France opposes -- because it would give the "belligerents" the power to run Iraq.
March 22, 200323 yr The US should pass a budget and with it enabling legislation for taxes to pay for what is being done. And I can't post a smiley here. There is no such thing as free lunch - there is no such thing as a free war. You all have committed to a lot of things. The price will have to be paid. One problem with driving away your allies is you pay the price alone.

The US and UK offered to "pay the price alone" and France wants none of it..... probably to reap the benefits of the US and UK military work afterwards for themselves. Of course their going to want a piece of the pie. Chirac probably has an eye on one of Saddam's palaces if the US hasn't already blown it up
