October 1, 200421 yr If the Giants and Astros both sweep the Giants would be tied for both the NL West and the Wildcard. I wonder what the tie break procedure is? Giants vs. LA with the loser playing the Astros for the final spot?
October 1, 200421 yr don't know if this is right, but it's all i could find: http://www.all-baseball.com/ref/tie.html When there is a tie for a Division Championship and the tied teams have the same record as a team having the better record of the second place teams in the other two divisions, the Division Championship tie shall be broken as follows: a. Tie among two teams for Division Championship with one team having the better record of the second place teams in the other two divisions. The League President shall conduct a coin flip to determine the site of a playoff game between the two teams tied for the Division Championship, the game to be played the day after the conclusion of the championship series. The winner of the game shall be declared Division Champion and the team with the better record of the second place teams in the other two divisions shall be declared the Wild Card team. So LA and SF would play, with the winner being the West Champion, and Houston would we the Wild Card. At least that's how I'm reading this.

October 1, 200421 yr Author My head is hurting. If the Giants sweep, the Astros win the wildcard and the LA/SF loser is out? Edit: I forgot, it could be the Cubs :fthecubs Edited October 1, 200421 yr by Texsox
October 1, 200421 yr Author From Astros.com The Dodgers, Giants and Astros finish with the same winning percentage, leaving the NL West and the NL Wild Card winners undecided. What happens? The Dodgers and Giants would have a one-game playoff to determine the West champion on Monday. The loser would play the Astros in a one-game playoff to determine the Wild Card winner on Tuesday. If that scenario plays out, both National League Division Series would begin on Wednesday. Under normal circumstances (no Tuesday tiebreaker), three Division Series will begin on Tuesday. The only exception is the series involving the NL Wild Card.
