October 25, 200421 yr Huge Cache of Explosives Vanished from Site in Iraq. BAGHDAD, Iraq, Oct. 24 - The Iraqi interim government has warned the United States and international nuclear inspectors that nearly 380 tons of powerful conventional explosives - used to demolish buildings, produce missile warheads and detonate nuclear weapons - are missing from one of Iraq's most sensitive former military installations. The huge facility, called Al Qaqaa, was supposed to be under American military control but is now a no-man's land, still picked over by looters as recently as Saturday. United Nations weapons inspectors had monitored the explosives for many years, but White House and Pentagon officials acknowledge that the explosives vanished after the American invasion last year.
October 25, 200421 yr And there is a lot more of that crap over there. Interesting that this comes out NOW though. Not that there are alterior motives for "bad press" this week. I have declined to pick a president yet - meaning who I think will really win... but ... I will next Tuesday... (Hint: JFK). And that makes me sick. But so does George Bush. I think I'm voting Libertarian. My vote doesn't matter anyway. (I live in Texas, so I don't matter).
October 26, 200421 yr Voted Libertarian this afternoon (absentee ballot) This is insane....350+ TONS of explosive not secured. I feel safer already.
