In his Winston-Salem debut last night, Rafael Flores went 4 innings giving up 4 runs (all earned). He struck out 3, walked 3, and gave up 7 hits while receiving the loss 5-4 to Kinston.

Flores was much better in his start last night. He pitched 5 shutout innings allowing only 2 hits while striking out 2 and walking 4. Unfortunately he didn't get any run support and received a ND, but the Warthogs won 4-2.

Flores in April: 1-1, 3.86 ERA, 21 IP, 14 K, 9 BB, 19 hits, 1.33 WHIP

Flores in May: 1-2, 5.58 ERA, 30.2 IP, 19 K, 9 BB, 36 hits, 1.47 WHIP

 

Rafael also made a couple relief appearances in May and it looks like he may have been shifted to the pen indefinitely.

Rafael got back in the 'Hogs rotation on the 27th. He pitched 3.1 innings allowing 3 runs (1 earned) while striking out 3, walking 1, and surrendering 6 hits. His ERA on the season stands at 4.54.

Rafael was placed on the disabled list on August 7th. He stands 3-4 with a 4.77 ERA on the year.

Flores started his 2006 season in Kannapolis last night going 5 innings and getting a no decision. He struck out 3 while walking 2 and giving up 1 run on 2 hits.

 

Update: Flores has made 7 appearances, one start. He doesn't have a decision with a 4.67 ERA.

 

Update 2: He made his first start of the season June 13th for Kannapolis. 5 IP, 4 R, 3 K, 0 BB, 8 hits was good for a win in his first decision of the season.

After a lackluster season from Flores he was released.
