Packer Fans Want More Moon

Moss' fake mooning a tease

Tuesday, January 11th, 2005

GREEN BAY, Wisc. (sPERTS.net) – After the Packers’ loss to the Vikings, their fans’ faces weren’t the only things left blue.

In the fourth quarter of Sunday’s wildcard game, Minnesota Vikings receiver Randy Moss pantomimed mooning the crowd at Lambeau Field after catching a 34-yard touchdown pass. The taunt, coupled with the Packers’ loss, infuriated Green Bay fans, who demanded Moss be suspended for not actually mooning them.

“A mooning should be done well, or not at all,” said Ned Blackfridge, a systems analyst from Madison who attended the game.

Blackfridge was then asked if he was in fact admitting that he wanted to see another grown man’s bare ass.

“Well, for all the money they pay him…” Blackfridge replied, “I mean, no.”

Before pretending to moon the crowd, Moss pretends to feel a bullet in the chamber.

Moss was slightly unnerved by the response his celebration generated.

“Honestly, I was hoping they’d want to kick my ass or something,” he said. Instead, he was pelted with cheese hats inscribed with phone numbers and messages like “let that burnt bread out of the oven.”

“We just feel slighted, is all,” said Martha Gusterson, Packers fan. “Down in Houston, Janet Jackson showed the crowd her nipple. All we get is a mock mooning. We’re out in the tundra, here – throw us a bone, Randy!” Gusterson is currently collecting signatures for a petition to get a dome for Lambeau Field, so players can expose their body parts without fear of them wilting off in the frigid Wisconsin air.

While many Packers fans are quick to scold Moss, Vikings fans see his failure to expose himself not as a tease, but as a promise of things to come.

“He’s not gonna show us the goods all at once, or we wouldn’t have anything to look forward to,” said Helen Lanchett, a St. Paul retiree. “But if we win the Super Bowl – well, I don’t want to spoil it for you. Let’s just say that the goalposts aren’t brass, but they’ll do nicely anyway.”
