February 25, 200521 yr And like everyone knows exactly why those security measures were taken. Could there have been evidence of something happening beyond normal? We will never know, but if it were John Kerry, this story would not even be news.
February 25, 200521 yr Author I just think its interesting is all. Read the story. They are suing the German government because they were given assurances that the airport would not be completely shut down days before the visit. It was only at the time of the visit did the story change.
February 25, 200521 yr I did read the story. And I know the suit is over the German government's restrictions. However, they are all bitter because of Bush being there too. And like I said, I stand behind the notion that if this were any other president, the stink being made would not be as stenchy.
February 25, 200521 yr Author I'm guessing if you were a business and you were given assurances that disturbances wouldn't happen, and then they did, and it cost you millions of dollars, you'd want to be taken care of too. I haven't exactly seen this story anywhere else.
February 26, 200521 yr You're right in a sense, but a lot of the text talks about how they went "overboard" for GWB's visit. You know, politics aside, it's ok that they went overboard to protect a couple of very important leaders in the free world.
February 26, 200521 yr Author Anytime any President visits, there are stories about disgruntled locals complaining. I remember hearing all about how the President tied up traffic on WLS when Clinton used to visit Chicago. Hell, even heard about it when he visited Michigan City in 1996.
