Windows XP question

Featured Replies

Can anybody tell me how to make a program open automatically when I start my computer? I also need to know how to make other programs not open when I start. I am running Windows XP. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

start menu > run , then type in msconfig, go to the startup tab. you should be able to do everything you're loooking to do from there.

Thank you Valpo, but i may have worded my question wrong. When I start my CPU, about 5 programs open in the lower right hand corner of the task bar. I don't want some of these to open, and I want to make a couple of others. How can I change this?

You can disable some of them from the msconfig menu. If not then each program usually has a "run on startup" box that can be unchecked somewhere in its own menu. If there are specific programs you can't figure out list them here, if I have the same programs or am familiar with them maybe I can be of more help.

XP also has a pretty good help system built in. Far better than previous versions.
