MIT, Navy and Ohio State Dominate NRA's Collegiate Pistol Championships

Shooters from just three of the country's most highly-regarded universities earned most of the individual and team victories during the 25th Annual NRA Intercollegiate Pistol Championships, held at Fort Benning, Ga., March 17-19.

Overall aggregate victories, both Team and Individual, went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Senior David Schannon's total score of 1608 in Free, Standard and Air earned him the individual title, while a combined score of 6282 put MIT ahead of Navy and Ohio State, respectively. To secure their title, MIT marksmen won the team contests in Free Pistol and Air Pistol.

Michael Gleeson, a senior from The U.S Naval Academy, took first place in both the Free Pistol Individual Championship and the Air Pistol event. Charles Mardis from the Ohio State University won the Standard Pistol Individual Championship. Women shooters were dominated by Jennifer Trickett from Ohio State, who won the Sport Pistol Championship and finished as Women's Aggregate Champ; and Diana Nee, from MIT, who won Women's Air Pistol.
