Minnesota originally drafted Pierzynski in the third round of the 1994 First-Year Player Draft, and he was part of the Twins' system for 10 years. After stops in such Minor League locales as Fort Wayne, Fort Myers, New Britain and Salt Lake City, Pierzynski made his debut with Minnesota during the 1998 season. By 2001, Pierzynski had become the everyday catcher.
