May 10, 200520 yr I was flipping through channels and saw US Cellular, and ran across this. The commentators were commenting on some well hit balls that didn't leave the yard, and I think it was Reynolds who said that US Cellular isn't known as much of a hitters park and that there aren't too many long home runs there. It was interesting to see how much opinions about that can change. I wonder how much of the stigma is caused by our recent good power hitters and our plethora of pitchers who have given up the long ball in the past. Or is there something to the renovations that have made the ball carry better last year and worse again now? Then again, maybe Reynolds just didn't know what he was talking about. That's very possible.
May 10, 200520 yr I think after allstar game renovations they moved the fence in by a few feet, and I have herd that with the addition of the roof it made the wind swirl more and it makes it a lot easier for the ball to carry...
May 10, 200520 yr That was pre-new roof. The new upper deck makes the ball carry much further. But he was right back then. The ball wasn't known to fly, especially going to CF. It would seem that you could get a huge hit off the bat into CF and then it would die before it left the park, now the ball carries alot more.
