Texsox
MTV-style prank nets charges for ‘Jackass’ imitators LYKENS — Two people thought they were having fun when they mimicked a prank they saw on an MTV movie, but a convenience store clerk thought the incident was real and called police to report a child abduction. State police at Lykens reported that Daniel Reedinger, 31, of Wiconisco, pulled his vehicle to the gas pump at Tower Mini Market in Lykens and pumped gas into it Wednesday. While Reedinger was paying for the gas, a 15-year-old boy, bound at the hands and blindfolded, jumped from the trunk. Reedinger chased the juvenile and threw him back in the trunk of the vehicle and fled the scene. A clerk at the convenience store became alarmed and reported an abduction of a male juvenile. Law enforcement agencies were notified and were given a description of Reedinger, the boy and the vehicle. Reedinger and the juvenile were later identified through the store’s video surveillance tape and the assistance of a patron who recognized them. Once found, the two told police the incident mimicked a prank they saw on the movie “Jackass.” Reedinger has been charged with false alarms to agencies of public safety and corruption of minors, both misdemeanors, and disorderly conduct, a summary offense.
