July 25, 200520 yr http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=337498&cc=5901 For those that care, the U.S. won 3-1 (0-0) on penalty kicks to beat Panama to win the Gold Cup. The U.S played without many regulars although Donovan, Beasly, Keller and O'Brien all played. This is the U.S.'s 3rd Gold Cup win. For those that dont know the Gold Cup is played against CONCACAF teams, that is, teams from North and Central America and the Caribbean. Also, sometimes other countries are given invites to play in it as Columbia was this year. The U.S. next plays in August (i think 17th) against Trinidad in the WC Qualifiers.
July 25, 200520 yr I looked online and saw the World Cup was in 2006. But, does anyone the approximate dates of the event? I always loved watching the world cup and bad as that sounds. To me, it's like the olympics and it's a pride thing and root for your country thing.

July 25, 200520 yr QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 11:33 PM) Wow, the fact that Panama made it to the finals makes this tournament lose ALL credibility to me... Yeah, it was a shock, but they aren't that bad. I saw them play Colombia in the semis and they just outclassed the solid Colombian team. Colombia was on the attack a lot, but Panama's counter attacks were just awesome. There were good teams there, but CONCACAF is a pretty weak region. The US is really becoming a solid soccer power, ranked 6th in the world in the latest FIFA rankings. That's just unreal. They have to win once in Mexico, easier said than done, but they haven't done it in ages and that would be a big step to becoming the top team of the region.
