July 28, 200520 yr ATO: Wasserman and Brooks Promoted, Two Former Major Leaguers Signed 2005 3rd round pick moves up to Kannapolis, slated to start tonight Ricky Brooks, the Sox 3rd round pick in this year’s draft has been promoted to low A Kannapolis and is scheduled to pitch tonight for the first place I’s who host Hagerstown (Mets). Brooks was a draft eligible sophomore and was considered a somewhat difficult sign because of that. The East Carolina product signed early and pitched well for Rookie League affiliate Bristol. Brooks, 21, made 5 appearances, all starts, for the BriSox. In those 5 starts, he went 0-2 with a 2.89 ERA. In 18.2 IP he struck out an impressive 25 while allowing only 15 hits and 4 walks. more...
