August 23, 200520 yr From an email list serve I'm on. I've cut the subject matter a bit, the advice holds well. BTW, he will be flamed, harassed, and made to pay for jumping on this particular guy's stuff. Personally, I'd like to trek with a guy like Pete ********. Pete, you have a FIDO attitude that would make a trek an enjoyable experience. What is "FIDO", you may ask? This is a family website so I'll PC-ize it. In the Army, FIDO means "Forget It. Drive On." FIDO. It's not sweating the small stuff, it's dealing with it, it's playing the hand that you are dealt, it's sucking it up, toughing it out, cowboying up. It's not griping about things you can't change anyway. It's a mindset, a philosophical bent, that makes hard days easier. Don't like granola for breakfast? FIDO. Raining? FIDO. Broke your toe the night before going to Philmont? FIDO. Try it. It works. Dave Parmly 2 years of planning and training and the person being responded to, claimed his trip was ruined because of the poor quality of dehydrated trail food, his cracker box getting wet, etc.
