Max innings this year to qualify for rookie status

Featured Replies

What is it? I am just wondering because of Jenks and Brandon. I think Brandon will surpass the number of innings, if he has't already, but what is the maximum number of innings in one year so a player can still be a rookie next year. Both would have excellent shots next year if they still remain rookies.

Currently, a player is considered a rookie if he hasn't accumulated more than 130 at-bats, 50 innings pitched, or 45 days on a major league roster before Sept. 1 of any previous season. (That's the cutoff date because, on Sept. 1, the roster limit is increased from 25 to 40.)

If I am reading this correctly Jenks will not be a rookie because he was called up July 5, giving him 56 days on the roster before 9/1. BMac will be a Rookie as his two stints (May 22 to 27 and Jun 19 to July 4) add up to 20 days. Neither had 50 innings to Sept 1.

50 IP or so many days on the active roster (I forget how many exactly)
