Rick Nash potentially 'Seriously Injured'

Featured Replies

Rick Nash of the Columbus Blue Jackets hit the boards feet first this morning in practice and had to be carried off the ice. They're not sure yet of the extent of the injuries, but it sounds like it could be bad.

I hope he's ok. Those injuries are NOT pleasant.

"Nash injured in scrimmage accident

The Columbus Dispatch

Wednesday, September 14, 2005 1:19 PM

Blue Jackets star Rick Nash went feet-first into the boards during a scrimmage this morning in Nationwide Arena and had to be helped from the ice. He was taken to Grant Medical Center for X-rays.

"Preliminary (diagnosis) is a high-ankle sprain, but we're really not sure," Blue Jackets president and general manager Doug MacLean said. "The X-rays are a precaution. We should know more (this afternoon)."

Nash, 21, tied for the National Hockey League lead in goals with 41 in the 2003-04 season. He signed a five-year contract extension worth $27 million last month."

i'd link, but the pisspot is a pay site.

this would suck. i'm a blackhawk fan first but was hoping to get to some games this year.

Doesn't sound too good. Needless to say, the boards don't give...i've hit em pretty hard many times.

Hope he's alright, because i love to watch him play.

the jackets gm was just on local radio out here. he said there were no breaks. he's having an mri now to check for any ligament damage which would obviously be the biggest concern. they should know more tomorrow.

this definately sucks. I hope he fully recovers and hits the ice as soon as he is physically able.

sounds like what happened to me in January. sprained ankle for me, missed 2 weeks, though I most definitely didn't hit the boards as hard as I'm sure Nash did.

Thats not too bad for him. Hes a strong kid so I'm sure it wont affect his play too much the rest of the year. Best of luck to one of the better players in the league.

hey exactly like what happened to me then. now we have something in common. next year, when I make it to the NHL, we'll have two. by they way, is there any way that last statement could be more green?
