Todays ALCS was postponed until sunday night, meaning that is the yanks win tomorrow game five will be on monday with the ALCS set to begin tuesday. Would MLB push the start of the ALCS back a day? If so it really f***s up a lot of plans! Any one know?

NEW YORK -- Postponement of Saturday's Game 4 of the Division Series puts the American League on an accelerated schedule toward its Championship Series.

The immediate impact of the rainout is an unexpected Sunday in the park, Yankee Stadium now set to host the delayed Game 4 at 8:15 p.m. ET.

Air time for FOX's broadcast will be 7:30 p.m. ET, with first pitch scheduled for 45 minutes later.

A win by the Yankees to even the series with the Angels at two games apiece would send the teams back to Anaheim for a Game 5 on Monday. That tentative tiebreaker is believed to be penciled in for an 8 p.m. ET start, but details, including game time and broadcast information, are not expected to be finalized until the outcome of Sunday night's game.

MLB's original postseason calendar had Monday as the on-scene workout day prior to Tuesday's start of the ALCS, now guaranteed to open in Chicago's U.S. Cellular Field, where the White Sox compiled the league's best record at 99-63.

Saturday's rainout could deny the winner of this series that opportunity to work out -- unless the Angels are able to close out the Yankees here on Sunday night. In the event of additional postponements and a series that goes the five-game distance, the start of the ALCS would simply have to be pushed back.

Both managers put on hold Saturday shrugged off the complications presented by the altered Division Series timetable. The prospects of a late Sunday game and a quick turnaround to the West Coast did not perturb either.

"You accept whatever comes down," said the Yankees' Joe Torre. "Because if you start getting lost there, you're going to wind up getting distracted and using it as an excuse. And this is no time for excuses."

Said the Angels' Mike Scioscia, "It's out of our control. We'll play at midnight if that's what they tell us. We'll be ready."

My interpretation from reading that is no, it will not affect the start of the ALCS on Tuesday unless another game is rained out and the series goes 5 games, in which they would have to complete that series on Tuesday.

Thats probably better news for the Sox then if this series goes 5 games. Either team that wins would have less rest, and their #1 starter probably wouldnt be starting an early game of the ALCS (although they probably wouldnt anyway)

this could be very beneficial to us if the winner of this series doesnt get a day rest before game 1. my guess is that some of the players would think that its unfair, and it would start to get to their heads. when really all they had to do was (haha) sweep their opponents and they wouldnt be in this situation

Especially since Colon might start Game 4 tomorrow.
