October 16, 200520 yr http://maps.wunderground.com/data/images/at200524_model.gif A tropical depression in the central Caribbean Sea may soon become Tropical Storm Wilma. The depression, centered southwest of Jamaica, appears to be getting better organized and may reach storm strength later today. Conditions favor additional intensification, so there's no reason to think the disturbance will not attain hurricane status by mid-week. At the moment, the depression is stationary, but is expected to drift westward over the next couple of days. Thus, a tropical storm warning and hurricane watch have been posted for the Cayman Islands. Heavy rainfall is forecast not only for the Caymans, but for Jamaica, as well. All interestes in the central and western Caribbean should pay close attention to this developing storm.
