November 12, 200520 yr Ishii's Japanese Stats Now I read that he was a FA, and what do you guys think the chances of the White Sox signing him in place of Marte. He has a 95MPH fastball, and maybe he would come here since we have a short history of signing Japanese ball players (Iguchi and Shingo). Is KW looking at this guy? Who else would be interested? What our your thoughts about this? More Japanese News http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...t=.jsp&c_id=mlb Edited November 12, 200520 yr by Whitesoxfan56
November 12, 200520 yr Well the fact that we gave Shingo the boot may hurt our chances... Still i'd give it a go if the price wasn't too high...
November 12, 200520 yr Author yes, we gave shingo the boot, but we also gave him the chance to play MLB ball, so that has to count for something right???
November 12, 200520 yr His numbers indicate he would be very good his first year 2.00 era something and then regress kind of like Otsuka, which I would definately take from a lefty. I say go for him, but since he would have to be posted, he would cost a lot.
November 12, 200520 yr Nice find, actually intersted to see his motion. Still allot younger than Takatsu when we got him. I say go for it.
November 13, 200520 yr Author No he isnt, I read an article somewere that said he wasnt, as soon as i find it i will post it
November 13, 200520 yr Author I found it here: Ishii Article According to Japanese insiders, Ishii -- no relation to Mets pitcher Kaz Ishii -- has the ability and mentality to make an impact in relief. He closed effectively in 2005 with 37 saves and a 1.95 ERA with 91 strikeouts in 73 2/3 innings.
November 14, 200520 yr We should ask KW first, if he wants to sign the Japanese phenom. Marte might still be the lefty reliever, if he regains his confidence and isn't hurt.
