Looks fine, but consider how much bigger Delgado's contract gets over time...

06:$13.5M, 07:$14.5M, 08:$16M, 09:$16M mutual option ($4M buyout)

By the last year of his contract, he'll be 37 yrs old and making $16 million. And if we keep Konerko (which would most likely be at a 4 or 5 year deal), he'll probably be making around $13 million by the time he's 34. Just saying that its a ton of money and years to invest in two players who aren't exactly kids. Also remember, some of our starters will be looking at paydays in the next year or two.

As much as I'd like to see both of them in our lineup next year, my guess it that if we get Delgado, Pauly most likely will be gone.

True, but I believe as we move on in two to three years, our payroll could reach near $100 million. Next season, attendance will be insane for the Sox, possibly around 2.8 million and I think we can afford these players as well as give the guys who deserve it raises. However, this is probably Count's last year with the Sox and that frees us $8 million for a cheaper player such as a Haigwood or Broadway or a cheaper veteran.

Garland's salary should be upped a bit.

Hell, Konerko's deal may average 13 million per (IMO,) but I don't think he's going to earn exactly the same amount each season, so with that lineup the payroll could be $2-3 million less.

EDIT: Scratch Timo off there and substitute anderson. That's another $660,000 saved (well, another $1 million from your total since you have them both listed.) Don't forget Carl's and Frank's buyouts ($4 million.)

Agreed. I wouldn't rule it out. It'll definitely be interesting to see how our probable rise in popularity translates into spending. Still, after looking at Delgado's contract, its easy to see why it would scare a lot of teams off. Probably means that it wouldn't take a ton of talent to get him either.
