A Reading mother, apparently trying to help her son make friends, is accused of throwing a rowdy keg party where she sold teens beer.

Police say Kim Caufield, 39, now faces charges of distributing alcohol to a minor and delinquency of a minor.

Caufield and her family reportedly moved to Reading about two months ago from Florida. Students speculate she threw the beer bash — complete with a keg — to help her 14-year-old son make friends.

“It’s still an ongoing investigation at this point,” Reading Lt. Detective Kevin Patterson said.

Police responded to a loud Nov. 17 house party at about 9 p.m. Patterson said once police arrived, they observed evidence of alcohol being consumed by partygoers.

Police were directed to Caufield and they then seized a keg of beer and other alcoholic beverages.

The mother was not arrested or charged as the party was being broken up. Police have since filed a criminal complaint. She is expected to appear in court this month, according to police.

Caufield could not be reached for a comment.

Reports state Caufield has a 14-year-old son attending Reading High School. Students who went to the party received cups for $5 and a mark on their hand to indicate they paid for the booze.

Caufield faces three counts of distributing alcohol to a minor and delinquency of a minor. They are all misdemeanor charges

on the bright side....at least she wasn't caught sleeping with the 14 year olds. then again..the party just started...lol

While I think 14 is way too young for that sort of thing, I know I wasn't the only 17-18 year old to ever attend a parent-sponsored beer bash. Was I?

if it was 17-20 it wouldnt be a big deal.... but damn 14 year olds?

The next time she's in the car with him she should point out the Juvie center if she keeps up her alcohol support.

Yeah 14 is a little young, but i wish i would have been there. :P
