December 6, 200520 yr The Indians met Monday morning with Rick Thurman, the representative for Trevor Hoffman, and appear to be moving closer to signing the free-agent closer to a three-year deal in the $21 million to $24 million range. Hoffman is expected to take a physical for the Indians on Tuesday. The Padres, who met with Hoffman's representatives later Monday, believe they still have a chance of retaining their closer. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5141070
December 6, 200520 yr We saw him once last year, and Rowand hit one about 900 feet. He's 38 and has no fastball anymore, and the Indians are WAY overpaying. Bring him on.
December 6, 200520 yr QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) Personally, I think its the years. 3 years for 38 year old Trevor Hoffman???? Cash and the years are insane.
December 7, 200520 yr The contracts may be getting rediculous but the fact of the matter is that if you want talent you gotta pay for it. This move kinda worries me cause that just means that the tribe in gonna be a little stronger late in games. We'll have to see whatelse the do though cause as they are presently constituted the Tribe isnt even close to THE CHAMPS.

December 8, 200520 yr QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) Probably helps his HOF chances by staying in one city basically. yeah, but he was probably going in anyways. Glad he is with the Padres, another off-season of Wicky munching of food never hurts.
