Any accountants or tax people around?

I go to school fulltime in my spare time through the local community college. I'm taking advantage of their online courses which means that I really don't attend classes but complete all my required work, research, and reading online at my home.

My monitor is dying and I'm looking to purchase a new lcd. I'm just curious if the monitor would be deductible as a school expense? Any input would be appreciated.

Probably not - at least the way you are describing it - unless you're a teacher, but that's another subject.

Correct.

Along with any interest paid on government-controlled or contracted student loans, once you leave school.
