Steinbrenner predicts World Series win

Featured Replies

[TAMPA, Fla. -- George Steinbrenner is predicting the New York Yankees' five-year World Series drought will end this October.

"We're going to win it this year," the Yankees owner said Wednesday. "We're going after it."

The Yankees haven't won the World Series since beating the New York Mets in 2000. They lost to Arizona in 2001 and to Florida in 2003, were eliminated by the Angels in the first round of the playoffs in 2002 and 2005, and wasted a three-game lead against Boston in the 2004 AL championship series.

Steinbrenner had kept a lower profile in recent years, but has been present daily at Legends Field since the start of spring training last week.]

How do the Sox fans feel about this? Ticked? Funny? I think we should just take a closed mouth approach to this prediction. He says the ARE going to win the world series. Why would they? Yes, they have an awesome lineup. What about pitching? Anywho, how do you feel about Steinbrenner's talk?

Technically, the Yankees haven't won a world series this Millenium.

Here I thought he was going to predict the Red Sox.

What do you expect?

He has the highest payroll, he better expect a World Series every year.

Since this is non-sox and there's already another thread on this, I'm closing this.
