Barons hate to say this, but this event is going to be a joke. As of Tuesday, they had sold a total of 4 tickets! I think it was up to about 20 yesterday.

 

No one knows about this game. They haven't promoted it. The teams are thrown together with who knows what players.

 

You will see a weak game with hardly any fans on a cold afternoon with the only thing resembling a cool game being the uniforms. They are having freakin Willie Mays there and haven't promoted it AT ALL. Hate to be a negative naybob, but this thing is a mess.

I saw a commerical about it on ESPN Classic a couple of times, so they promoted it a little bit.

Let me backtrack a little on this. Apparently, they have been marketing this game in the inner city and black community rather than doing a broad marketing campaign. Also, ESPN has distributed a lot of tickets to groups throughout the city. So while advance ticket sales may be almost nil, distribution may be better than originally thought.

 

This will be a weird deal in that it still hasn't been publicized much is pretty much a thrown together game. It is on ESPN Classic today at 3:00 central time, so it should at least be worth checking out. They are using equipment (gloves, catcher's equipment, etc.) from the 40's so that will be an interesting twist.

 

The game is at Rickwood Field, the oldest ballpark in America, so that itself is worth turning the dial to for a bit.
